ABOUT US

A little about our family…The Milagros Project started with the teachings and lessons that Bonnie Piekarski (CEO) learned throughout her upbringing. Her grandmother, a leader in the world of activism had dedicated her life to helping those who were “othered” by society. It was through her grandmother’s teaching and Bonnies own personal exeriences that she knew to create a true impact in communities, it takes listening, empathy, partnerships, and a willingness to fight for what you believe in. WIth these teachings in mind, Bonnie has never been shy of voicing her concern for communities that have been neglected and faced with adversity. It did not stop there, as she instilled these same lessons into her two daughters, Maria and Eve. Both of whom who from the time they were able to voice their opinions, were not shy of protesting for human rights and advocating for those who faced injustice. So naturally when the world saw its darkest time during the Covid pandemic in 2020. The world watched as many of the injustices that had been easily disregarded rise to the surface. It was during this time, that community more than ever was vital. It began with grant writing and asking for donations for those who were food insecure during this time. That not so soon after, it blossomed to a full-fledged operation. With donations coming in, we have been able to donate and service to hundreds of families across the Rhode Island area. From; sanitary products, food, clothing, toy drives for the holiday season. Most importantly we have seen the biggest impact when it comes to celebrating and uplifting the communities that have been “othered” for so long.
